Grid Infrastructure
ACORE strongly supports critical grid infrastructure upgrades to achieve the clean energy transition and associated transmission goals.
Innovative technologies improve the integration of clean energy and allow the transmission grid to deliver more power over the same infrastructure. ACORE advocates for regulatory reforms and funding to obtain the full benefits of such innovative technologies, which include storage and hybrid resources, software that improves the operation of renewable resources, as well as advanced hardware and software (known as grid-enhancing technologies) that deploy more transmission capacity at a lower cost. Advanced transmission technology may provide one-third of the needed increase in grid capacity to meet climate goals and future demand.
ACORE advocates for market reforms to ensure clean resources can participate in power markets, transmission planning and interconnection rules that incorporate advanced technologies, and greater public funding. Full utilization of these technologies will enhance reliability and resilience and catalyze cost-effective clean energy integration.
