Transmission & Power Markets
ACORE advocates for legislative and regulatory measures that improve the siting, permitting, and planning of transmission, increase the use of grid technologies, and expand regional power markets.
A significant expansion of our transmission grid is essential to deliver the growing supply of renewable resources. Upgrading our transmission system will ensure reliability and resilience, especially during extreme weather events, and reduce power costs.
ACORE advocates for comprehensive long-term transmission planning to develop the grid of the future with a fair allocation of the costs, measures to reduce interconnection queues, greater incorporation of advanced technologies, a significant buildout of interregional transmission, and reforms to the siting and permitting process.
ACORE promotes expanding and improving the design of wholesale power markets. Regional power markets support both renewable energy growth and economic efficiency. While wholesale markets provide multiple benefits, power market designs can be improved to better value the economic, reliability, and climate contributions of renewable energy, storage, distributed generation, and other grid-enabling technologies.
