During the past four years, Mark Anderson served as SVP Public Affairs in Total’s Washington D.C. Representative office. Mark was first tasked to lead the successful start-up, structuring and growth of the D.C. office. In his role, Mark supported and informed the Group’s interests in U.S. federal and international government affairs. Mark helped track and influence energy, environment and geopolitical policies in support of Total’s business objectives and worked to enhance the company’s U.S. brand through advocacy efforts.
Previously, Mark was SVP for Public Affairs for the French utility company EDF, where he led EDF’s government affairs practice in Washington D.C. and supported the EDF Group’s interests in U.S. federal and state legislative and regulatory policy related to nuclear power and renewable energy.
Mark brings over 25 years of international energy infrastructure development experience in the oil, gas, chemicals and water sectors with a commercial focus on project structuring and contract negotiations. Prior to joining EDF, his senior level roles have included International Business Development Manager for Bechtel Corporation and the COO of a financial services firm. Mark began his career in the commodities trading business with assignments in Brazil, France and New York.
Mark earned his B.A. in Economics from Trinity College and an M.B.A. from INSEAD. He is fluent in five languages. Mark is a native of Washington D.C. where he resides with his wife and three children.
