James Giamarino

James Giamarino joined Ørsted in September 2020 as Head of Commercial – Americas for the Onshore side of the business. In this role, James led the teams responsible for raising 3rd party tax equity financing and Mergers & Acquisitions as well as building and maintaining relationships with the external renewable energy community.  At that time, he was also a member of the Onshore Executive Committee, responsible for new investment decisions that contributed to the value-added growth of the business.  In November of 2022, at the time of the Ørsted Americas regional merger, James became the Chief Commercial Officer for the newly combined Americas offshore and onshore business.  As the head of the new single consolidated commercial team, he overseas Growth & Strategy, Commercial Structuring, Origination, M&A, Project Finance and Commercial Partnerships, covering all commercial activities through the entire lifecycle of a project.  The mission of his team is to find value-creating opportunities for Ørsted Americas to grow across target renewable technologies and geographies.  He is a member of the Americas Region Senior Leadership Team and reports directly to Ørsted Americas CEO David Hardy.

James came to Ørsted after a 20-year career at GE Capital.  Over those years, James worked at several GE Capital businesses across a variety of finance and commercial leadership functions. Prior to joining the energy sector, James led M&A transactions across many asset and product types at GE Capital.  He later transitioned into the energy sector in 2006 by joining GE Energy Financial Services, investing tax equity in U.S. solar and wind projects.  He also led their Global Growth Team, spending a period in Japan which led to equity investments in large utility=scale solar projects. In his final years at GE, James returned to the U.S. Renewables Team, creating and managing commercial relationships with developers to drive new tax equity investments.

James is based in the Ørsted NYC office and lives close by in Connecticut.
