The American Council On Renewable Energy Praises Governors’ Accord for a New Energy Future

Bipartisan group of 17 Governors sign clean energy agreement to secure a prosperous future for the country

Washington, D.C. – The American Council On Renewable Energy (ACORE) applauds the bipartisan group of 17 governors that recently signed the Governors’ Accord for a New Energy Future and for their leadership on renewable energy growth for a prosperous future.

“States are helping catalyze the energy revolution and these governors should be commended for their foresight,” said ACORE President and CEO, Gregory Wetstone. “They have demonstrated that smart and sensible action on energy and climate does not need to be a partisan battle. Cost-competitive renewables can be implemented in smart ways in every state in the nation.”

The Accord calls for diversifying energy generation and expanding clean energy sources, as well as a number of complementary actions including modernizing infrastructure, supporting clean transportation, cooperation across state lines and partnerships at both the state and federal level to achieve these goals.

ACORE is also hosting the annual National Renewable Energy Policy Forum on March 17 in Washington D.C. where policymakers and renewable energy industry from around the country will convene to discuss the policy drivers of today and the future for renewables. Action by Governors will be a central topic of discussion, and states continue to push beyond federal action.
