ACORE Welcomes Siemens Gamesa to its Board of Directors

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE), the nation’s premier pan-renewable organization, announced the election of a new member to its Board of Directors: Abby Watson, Head of Government Affairs, North America for Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy.

“Abby, a renewable energy expert and longtime leader in our sector, is an excellent addition to ACORE’s Board,” said Gregory Wetstone, ACORE’s President and CEO. “Her policy insights and experience working with renewables across the value chain will be invaluable to our efforts to accelerate America’s much-needed transition to renewable energy.”

Abby Watson leads government and institutional relations for Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy in North America, covering federal and state policy and regulatory issues. In her nearly 15 year career, Abby has worked with almost every type of renewable energy technology from several angles – development, construction, risk management, project management, supply chain, sales and policy. Recently elected chairwoman of the board of RENEW Northeast, Abby has established herself as an industry leader working to bring together all stakeholders to pursue effective and equitable policies that support renewable energy and climate change solutions. Abby is also the founder and past President of the Philadelphia chapter of Women of Renewable Industries and Sustainable Energy (WRISE) and is an enthusiastic mentor and advocate for women in the renewable energy industry.

“I am so honored to elected to the board of ACORE by such an impressive group of professionals,” Watson said. “ACORE as an organization has always held a special significance and meaning for me. In the early years of my career I discovered a passion for renewable energy policy through participation in one of ACORE’s policy subcommittees, and that spark changed my entire career trajectory. There is a feeling of having come full circle, and I am looking forward to supporting ACORE’s important work as we collectively seek solutions to address our climate crisis, which grows more urgent with every passing season.”
