ACORE Welcomes FERC Nominee Willie Phillips, Calls for Quick Confirmation

WASHINGTON, D.C. – President Biden today announced his intent to nominate Willie Phillips, Chairman of the District of Columbia Public Service Commission, to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). Following is a statement from Gregory Wetstone, President and CEO of the American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE), on this announcement:

“This is a welcome announcement, and ACORE congratulates Chairman Phillips on his nomination. Chairman Phillips’ deep legal understanding of the issues at stake and clear recognition of the benefits that renewable energy provides our nation’s communities are encouraging. A full complement of five FERC commissioners is critical for advancing the clean energy transition. We call on the Senate to swiftly confirm this highly qualified nominee, so FERC can effectively address the transmission and power market reforms necessary to unlock America’s growing renewable energy economy.”
