ACORE Statement on the Biden Administration’s Budget Request

Statement From Gregory Wetstone, President and CEO of the American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE)

“Today’s budget request from the Biden administration provides a detailed roadmap of the programs and federal investments necessary to support the renewable energy industry’s drive to decarbonize the power sector by 2035. Once again, President Biden has demonstrated his commitment to a whole-of-government approach to tackling the climate crisis. The priority investments at the Department of Energy will catalyze important deployment and R&D at the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE), the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and other national labs – and the $1 billion commitment to the Advanced Research Projects Agency – Energy (ARPA-E) and the proposed Advanced Research Projects Agency – Climate (ARPA-C) has the potential to accelerate tomorrow’s clean energy innovations. The budget’s forward-looking investment in electric grid expansion and modernization will unlock renewable resources, enhance our national security, and increase reliability for consumers and businesses. We look forward to working with the Biden administration and Congress to advance these priorities as part of the appropriations process this year.”
