Following a December 2021 Roundtable on National Security & Transmission hosted by ACORE and SAFE, several participating former military leaders and senior DOD officials agreed to submit a statement offering their security perspectives on FERC’s Advanced Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (ANOPR) on transmission planning, cost allocation, and generator interconnection. The statement noted that because the electric system is paramount to every facet of our digital society, the economy and national security of the US are at risk. Thus, they are calling for transmission reforms and expansion in the form of a national Macro Grid.
