ACORE Applauds House Passage of the America COMPETES Act

Statement From Gregory Wetstone, President and CEO of the American Council on Renewable Energy:

“House approval of the America COMPETES Act represents substantial progress toward the development of a 21st century domestic supply chain for renewable energy technology. The legislation authorizes billions of dollars to construct new solar manufacturing facilities and expand or upgrade existing facilities, and provides additional funding to reinforce grid security. These investments will improve our competitiveness in the rapidly growing global solar market and create thousands of good-paying jobs right here in the United States. ACORE is also encouraged by provisions to streamline the permitting process for renewable energy technology on public lands and enable the Department of the Interior to move forward with more offshore wind lease sales. We look forward to working closely with policymakers in both chambers as they work to reconcile the America COMPETES Act and its Senate counterpart, the United States Innovation and Competition Act (USICA), and enact this important legislation.”
