Growing Bipartisan Support for Including Clean Energy in the Next COVID Relief Package

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, seven Senate Republicans signed a letter to Sen. Mitch McConnell urging the inclusion of emergency relief measures for the clean energy sector in COVID-19 legislation currently under consideration. Following is a statement on the letter from Gregory Wetstone, President and CEO of the American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE):

“Today’s Senate Republican letter to Leader McConnell reflects the growing bipartisan support for including the clean energy sector and its workforce in the next round of COVID legislation. We commend Senator Tillis and the rest of the letter signatories for making clear that standing up for millions of American clean energy workers is not – and has never been – a partisan issue. Through commonsense emergency relief measures like temporary refundability for renewable tax credits and a delay in their current phasedown schedule, Congress can stem ongoing job losses and help the renewable sector power the nation’s economic recovery.”
