ACORE Announces New Members to its Board of Directors

Senior Leaders from J.P. Morgan, Goldman Sachs and Invenergy Join Board of National Renewable Energy Organization

Washington D.C. – The American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE), a national business group made up of companies that finance, develop, manufacture and use all forms of renewable energy, today announced the appointment of three new members to its Board of Directors: Mit Buchanan, Managing Director of Energy Investments at J.P. Morgan; Pooja Goyal, Managing Director at Goldman Sachs and James Murphy, President and Chief Operating Officer of Invenergy.

“The talent and commitment of these three new members will be critically important as we work to address the challenges and opportunities associated with evolving business models and changing federal and state policies,” said Gregory Wetstone, ACORE’s President and Chief Executive Officer.

“I’m excited to welcome Mit, Pooja and Jim to the Board of Directors at ACORE,” said David Giordano, ACORE Board Chairman and Managing Director at BlackRock. “Throughout their careers, they have each been key leaders in the growth of the industry. With deep experience in the sector, they bring unique perspectives and innovative ideas to the Board and will be valuable contributors in supporting ACORE’s mission.”

More background on the newly elected ACORE Board members is available below:

  • Mit Buchanan, Managing Director – Energy Investments at J.P. Morgan, is a 12-year veteran in the renewable energy sector with a career spanning 31 years in the energy industry. As a member of J.P. Morgan’s Energy Investment Team, she originates, structures and executes energy investments. Since 2003, this team has been one of the largest investors in the renewable energy market. Mit has been a frequent panelist for a number of renewable conferences and is also a member of the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) board.
  • Pooja Goyal, Managing Director at Goldman Sachs, is the head of the Alternative Energy Investing Group within the Americas Special Situations Group and focuses on investing the firm’s capital in renewable energy sector in the form of private equity, corporate lending, project finance and structured investments. She joined Goldman Sachs in 2002 as an analyst in the Investment Banking Division and was named managing director in 2012.
  • James Murphy, President & Chief Operating Officer of Invenergy, has more than 35 years of financial and management experience, primarily in the energy industry. During his career, Murphy has managed the negotiation and execution of more than $30 billion in private equity and debt investments, power plant acquisitions and sales, and project debt and equity financing. He is responsible for Invenergy’s general management, as well as its corporate development, finance, legal and administrative functions.
