ACORE Statement on FERC Final Rule to Improve Generator Interconnection

Statement by Todd Foley, Senior Vice President, Policy & Government Affairs, American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE)

Washington, D.C., April 19, 2018 – “We are encouraged by the steps taken to reform the interconnection process in the Final Rule issued by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission today.

While the reforms cover interconnection for all types of energy generators, we believe the Final Rule is an important recognition of a fundamental shift in the U.S. electric sector as we continue to diversify our electricity supply. Going forward, we are optimistic the rule will improve and expedite critical interconnection procedures for solar, wind and other renewable technologies, while also expanding access to energy storage resources.

ACORE will continue to analyze the Final Rule and look for additional ways to improve grid interconnection. Increasing certainty to the interconnection process for renewable energy resources is an essential ingredient for creating a modernized power grid that will offer economic savings, improved resilience and reliability, and more diverse energy choices for consumers.”
