The American Council On Renewable Energy Announces 2016 Board Of Directors Election Results

Washington, D.C. – The American Council On Renewable Energy (ACORE) is pleased to announce its 2016 Board of Directors election results: Joseph Desmond, Senior Vice President of Marketing & Government Affairs, Bright Source Energy and Matt Ferguson, Counsel, Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton LLP were reelected to the board. The board also welcomes new members Mona Dajani, Partner, Baker & McKenzie LLP and Rob Morgan, Chief Strategy Officer, Exec. VP, Business Development, Renewable Energy Systems Americas Inc. (RES).

ACORE’s new President & CEO, Gregory Wetstone, said, “As renewables reshape the energy playing field, I am proud to be able to work with such a talented and diverse board of directors. ACORE’s board leadership deserves credit for placing the organization at the nexus of finance, policy and technology during a critical time in the move toward a low-carbon economy.”

Dan Reicher, ACORE Board Chairman and Executive Director of the Steyer-Taylor Center for Energy Policy & Finance at Stanford University welcomed the new and returning members of the board of directors, saying, “I am pleased to welcome Joe and Matt back to the board, and I am eagerly anticipating Mona and Rob’s contributions, given their impressive standing in the renewable energy community.”

Joseph Desmond is Senior Vice President of Marketing and Government Affairs for BrightSource Energy, and has nearly three decades of service in energy, spanning the private and public sector. He has been an integral member of the ACORE Board of Directors since 2012. “The renewable industry is at an inflection point as deployment of clean energy technologies is accelerating globally,” said Desmond. “ACORE’s continued engagement on the evolving policy landscape will play a pivotal role in advancing the transition to a low carbon economy.”

Matt Ferguson, Counsel at Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton LLP, is a seasoned law professional with deep experience in the renewables space, including an expertise in tax matters and project finance. He has five years of service to the ACORE board already, and pointed to the recent accomplishments of the renewables sector as motivation to continue his work with the organization. “With the most recent extension of tax policy for renewable energy, our sector finally has the business certainty needed for long-term planning,” said Ferguson. “ACORE played a pivotal role in this achievement, and I am looking forward to tackling the next set of issues critical to the continued success of America’s clean energy industry.”

Mona Dajani is a leader and Partner at Baker & McKenzie, LLP. As the lead lawyer in complex acquisition, financing, and development transactions in the energy space, she brings the legal expertise and leadership that will be an invaluable asset to ACORE and the success of its members’ projects. Her practice focuses on tax equity, project finance, corporate finance, and mergers & acquisitions on a global basis. Ms. Dajani said, “I am honored to be elected to the Board of Directors at ACORE and I look forward to helping grow an organization that has done so much to help create conditions for the renewable energy sector to grow, endure and prevail. From legal guidance to innovative financing mechanisms, I firmly believe that the best is yet to come for renewable energy.”

Rob Morgan, Chief Strategy Officer and Exec. VP of Business Development at RES, has 25 years of experience leading independent power businesses around the globe. He brings a deep expertise in all phases of project development in the clean energy sector. Mr. Morgan commented, “Renewable energy is transforming the energy sector and ACORE has been a leader in finding innovative opportunities for growth. Fulfilling a critical role as a cross-technology organization, I look forward to working with ACORE and this talented group of individuals to advance the mission of achieving a low-carbon energy economy.”
