ACORE Announces Its 2018 Class of New and Returning Board Members

Washington, D.C. – The American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE) today announced its new and re-elected Board members for 2018. Neil Gerber, Director for New Energy and Environment at IBM, and Kathy Weiss, Vice President of Government Affairs at First Solar, were re-elected to additional three-year terms. In addition, ACORE welcomes three new Board members:  John Eber, Managing Director of Energy Investments at J.P. Morgan; Brad Nordholm, Vice Chairman and Senior Managing Director at Starwood Energy; and Patrick Reiten, Senior Vice President for Government Relations at Berkshire Hathaway Energy.

“We are honored to welcome widely respected professionals John Eber, Brad Nordholm and Patrick Reiten to the great collection of industry leaders serving on our Board of Directors” commented ACORE President and CEO Gregory Wetstone, “and thrilled to have Neil Gerber and Kathy Weiss return to our Board for an additional term. ACORE Board Chairman Dan Reicher and Executive Director of the Steyer-Taylor Center for Energy Policy and Finance at Stanford University, added, “It is a testament to ACORE’s significant role promoting renewable energy that leaders of their stature are willing to devote time and effort to this critically important organization at this critically important moment.”

More background on the elected and appointed Board members serving three-year terms beginning January 1, 2018 is available below:

  • John Eber, Managing Director of Energy Investments at J.P. Morgan, manages the firm’s activities for tax-motivated equity investments in energy assets and has been responsible for approximately $12.8 billion worth of tax equity energy investments.
  • Neil Gerber, Director for New Energy and Environment at IBM, is responsible for the development of solutions for non-traditional utility functions, specifically focused on integrating renewable and distributed energy resources, environmental issues focused on air and water, and energy efficiency.
  • Bradford Nordholm, Vice Chairman and Senior Managing Director at Starwood Energy, directs investments in solar, wind, biomass, and natural gas power generation, transmission, and energy storage projects in North America, with an aggregate enterprise value of approximately $6 billion.
  • Patrick Reiten, Senior Vice President of Government Relations at Berkshire Hathaway Energy, leads the company’s national policy and legislative work, an $84 billion portfolio of locally managed businesses that share a vision for a secure and sustainable energy future.
  • Kathy Weiss, Vice President of Federal Government Affairs at First Solar.  First Solar has developed, financed, engineered, constructed and currently operates many of the world’s largest grid-connected PV power plants powered by their advanced thin-film modules. Kathy leads the company’s federal policy work on a variety of domestic and international issues.
