ACORE Fact Sheet on FERC Order 2023
Order 2023 is a final rule issued by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) on July 27, 2023, that requires all transmission providers — including Regional Transmission Organizations (RTOs) and Independent System Operators (ISOs) — to revise their pro forma Large and Small Generator Interconnection Procedures and Agreements.
The purpose of the rule is to improve the process by which developers of renewable and storage resources interconnect to the grid. RTOs, ISOs, and other transmission providers will be required to submit compliance filings 90 days after the Order is published in the Federal Register that revise their interconnection agreements and procedures to implement the requirements of the rule.
