Vishal Kapadia


Vishal is a Senior Vice President at Walmart responsible for developing and executing the company’s energy strategy. He leads a team focused on delivering energy security and affordability for Walmart’s operations, customers, and communities, while also building new clean energy businesses to serve customers in new ways.  Over the course of his career, Vishal has led the acquisition, financing, or development of 15 GW of energy and mobility assets and driven several transformational enterprise-level M&A and capital raising initiatives, including the successful exits of two private equity-backed companies.

Before joining Walmart in 2022, Vishal spent nearly 4 years at Orsted, where he was responsible for building and leading the strategy, business development, M&A and finance organizations as CFO and CCO of the company’s onshore renewables development business, playing a lead role in scaling a regional wind business into a 5 GW global renewables platform. Prior to Orsted, he led renewable energy finance and investment activities for Morgan Stanley in a role that included board positions on two wind energy-focused operating and development platforms. Before that, Vishal held senior finance and M&A roles at Enel North America and American Wind Capital, where he led the monetization of diverse portfolios of renewable energy assets. Prior to his career in the energy industry, he was a portfolio manager of securitized assets at Barclays Capital.

Vishal earned his Master of Business Administration from New York University and Bachelor’s degree in Business Economics from the University of California at Los Angeles.
