HREM is composed of individuals with over 40 years of experience in traditional and renewable energy development, engineering, planning and procurement. HREM helps companies reduce volatility and the climate impact of their energy consumption while meeting environmental, social justice, and governance goals.

Darrick provides legal support to public schools helping them navigate the legal and regulatory terrain. Darrick also serves as counsel on various state and local financings and works with renewable energy developers to obtain valuable local tax incentives.

Inspiration to Start Company

The racial reckoning of 2020 provided the impetus for creating High Road Energy Marketing LLC. Having been involved with the renewable energy industry for several years, I saw both an opportunity and a need to go beyond jobs and supplier diversity and impact the means of production through ownership and financial equity to create energy prosperity. With that focus, HREM was formed with the goal of creating generational wealth, expanding the dialogue around diversity to include financial equity at the production/developer level, and community engagement to leverage renewable energy resources for underserved communities. Shortly after forming, I identified black farmers and landowners as an overlooked and unused resource for the development of renewable energy sites as well as allies for moving renewable energy into the mainstream of America’s economy. I have worked tirelessly to bridge the knowledge gap between the renewable energy industry and black farmers and landowners.
