ACORE Statement on the Supreme Court’s Stay of the Clean Power Plan

Washington, D.C. – Reacting to news of the Supreme Court’s decision to stay the EPA’s Clean Power Plan, ACORE released the following statement on the decision and expressed hope for a path forward on effective climate regulations under the Clean Air Act:

“Today’s Supreme Court decision is a major setback to efforts to carry out one of the most important rulemakings in the EPA’s history,” said Gregory Wetstone, President and CEO at the American Council On Renewable Energy (ACORE). “But this is not the end of the story. Public and private sector momentum behind the shift to lower carbon power generation will continue. There is every reason to anticipate that, in the end, the Court will affirm that the Clean Air Act does indeed provide authority to address the greenhouse emissions that are changing the global climate, consistent with the international consensus reached in Paris barely two months ago.”
