Transmission Projects Ready-to-Go: Plugging into America’s Untapped Renewable Resources identifies 22 high-voltage transmission projects that, if built, could create around 600,000 jobs and interconnect 60,000 megawatts of new, renewable capacity. According to research conducted by Americans for a Clean Energy Grid and sponsored by the Macro Grid Initiative, the wind and solar development enabled by the transmission would create an additional 640,000 jobs, and would increase the country’s wind and solar generation by nearly 50% from current levels. The list includes both HVAC and HVDC projects and would total 8,000 miles.
