Vice President, Head of Origination
Jacob Susman has been building businesses, investing, and developing projects in renewable energy since 1999. He led OwnEnergy from inception to its sale in August of 2015 to EDF Renewable Energy, including recruiting and managing its industry-leading team, raising capital, establishing a nationwide brand, sourcing new business, developing projects, building customer relationships and generating revenue. Today, he serves as VP, Head of Origination where he leads EDF RE’s relationships with both utility and corporate customers around the US for the Company’s wind, solar and storage portfolio.
Prior to EDF RE and OwnEnergy, Jacob was a founding member of the Alternative Energy Investing Group at Goldman Sachs, where he was part of the core team that led the investment in Horizon Wind Energy. Jacob began his power sector career with The AES Corporation, in Spain, on the team that built Cartagena, a 1,200MW CCGT that was named European IPP of the Year by Euromoney.
Jacob also serves on the Advisory Boards of REpowering Schools and the Business Renewables Center, as well as several community boards. Previously, Jacob served for five years on the Board of the American Wind Energy Association, where he was its treasurer and later its secretary. He holds an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
