Australia

Renewable energy investment continues to grow in Australia at impressive rates, powered by broadly supportive government policies and pioneering technology development. With a set target for renewable sources to provide 20 percent of the nation's electricity by the year 2020, Australia will likely continue to see strong gains in capacity as cooperation between government, corporate and non-profit entities continues to strengthen.

History

In March 2013, ACORE announced a partnership with The Clean Energy Council (CEC) of Australia to advance both organizations' missions to advance clean energy deployment in the United States and Australia.

To officially launch the new partnership, ACORE, in partnership with Baker & McKenzie and the Australian Trade Commission, kicked off a week-long series of leadership roundtables in Australia from March 10 – 16, 2013, connecting U.S. financiers, developers and manufacturers with key Australian corporations, financiers, politicians and civil society organizations. The roundtables mapped out what cooperation between both industries will look like moving forward. U.S. delegation representatives included Citigroup, Denham Capital, Deutsche Bank, First Solar, IBM, Lockheed Martin, S&C Company, Recurrent, Sungevity, SolarReserve, Sunpower, and Skadden Arps.
