I am writing to say farewell as I step down as President of ACORE, and to thank you for your membership and support of ACORE's mission.
Together we set out nearly ten years ago to create a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that would assume responsibility for the success of renewable energy in America, bring renewable energy into the mainstream, and be "for renewable energy and against nothing."
Now, years later, there are over 650 organizational members, 42 leaders in ACORE's governance, and 25 staff and interns, all dedicated to the cause.
ACORE produces five national conferences each year - three in finance with Euromoney, one business conference with Tradefair Group, and our Phase II national policy forum in the Cannon Caucus Room on Capitol Hill. These events have raised the bar on thought leadership for renewable energy, and you have been the speakers, leading the way. Thank you for all you have done to make these great, impactful events.
ACORE has created and now runs the Leadership Council, the government policy program, the US Partnership for Renewable Energy Finance, the Regional Councils, the US-China Program, the Biomass Coordinating Council, and six membership committees to engage in addressing key issues in our marketplace.
We have begun to rally the troops, and have won some battles - increasing renewable energy investment levels from $20 billion in the year 2000 to nearly $250 billion in 2010. It has been a decade of policy change and tremendous growth.
But the task is not done. Indeed, we have only completed the first decade of a 100 year transformation from the fossil fuel age to the renewable energy age. I believe we will look back 50 years from now and say we did a good job. You are the leaders and doers who are making it happen.
The Advisory Board has been the source of ACORE's strategic guidance. Thank you to each and every one of our Advisors.
The Board of Directors has given ACORE a strong sense of corporate governance. Thank you to the 30 individuals who have served so well on the Board of Directors and given their time and energy.
The core of talent, commitment and shear hard work for the cause, has come from our dedicated staff -- thank you for your extraordinary loyalty, brilliance and accomplishments.
Some of our greatest moments in ACORE's history have come from the over 100 interns who have come through our intern program -- they are out there across the industry. Thank you all for the enthusiasm and desire for careers in renewable energy.
I am transitioning from ACORE President to ACORE Member, and will now proudly work along side you. It has been a great ten years, and I stayed with the opportunity to build ACORE for much longer than I originally intended! It has been fabulous.
I'll be at Citigroup in New York City. My new contact information is firstname.lastname@example.org, telephone 212-816-8488, and cell phone 202-492-5100.
I look forward to staying in touch with you and continuing our important work together.
Farewell and thank you.
Best regards, Mike
