Head of Global Commercial Strategy, GE Renewable Energy
Rolf Gibbels, Head of Global Commercial Strategy, has the responsibility for driving growth and leading the Digital commercial strategy at GE Renewable Energy. GE is bringing the Industrial Internet of Things (IoT) to life by connecting minds and machines through its big data and analytics software solutions.
He has over 20 years international experience selling and marketing software industry solutions, product lifecycle management (PLM) and computer aided design (CAD) software to the energy, process, architecture and construction industries.
Previously, he led the global commercial team for GE Power Digital with focus on fossil fuels. Prior to joining GE in May 2015, Rolf was the Industry Solutions Leader in IBM’s Energy & Utilities organization. In this role, he managed solution definition and business development activities with focus on power generation across all IBM businesses (Services, Software and Infrastructure including Cloud, Mobile and Analytics).
Prior to IBM, Rolf was Director of Global Market Development and Energy Industry Solutions at Dassault Systemes. He focused primarily on developing new initiatives, new opportunities and partner relationships in a burgeoning market now capitalizing on the value of PLM. Before that he was a Senior Product Marketing Manager at Visio Corporation (acquired by Microsoft in 2000).
Rolf holds a master’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Applied Sciences in Munich, Germany. He currently serves on the board of directors and International council of the American Council of Renewable Energy (ACORE). www.acore.org.
